GROW Careers Event Saturday 12th November
Both our Gardening Training Specialist, Kate Nicoll and Regional Gardens Consultant from the North, Annette Dalton are off to Askham Bryan College in York on Saturday 12th November to promote our brand new “Heritage Gardening Programme” to prospective students, parents, and career changers who are thinking of moving into our amazing industry.
This brand new, bespoke training programme has been designed to develop our Gardeners horticulture skills as well as their understanding of historic gardening – core to the National Trust. With over 250 gardens throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the National Trust is the largest single employer in the Heritage Horticulture sector and has a globally important plant collection as well as some of the finest gardens in the World.
‘What makes our garden teams so great is their ability to maintain and progress our incredible gardens using traditional horticultural skills. They need to do this whilst balancing the complex needs of conservation and access, whilst supervising volunteers giving them the opportunity to grow their skills, all whilst surrounded by large numbers of curious visitors keen to know what we are up to and information about the garden. Our new Heritage Gardening Programme has been designed to develop skills across all of these areas, equipping our Gardeners with the knowledge, understanding and tools they need to grow a fantastic, interesting and varied career with us.’
Kate and Annette will be joining numerous Horticulture specialists from around the UK who will be promoting the wealth of career opportunities available in the horticulture industry and the message that our world would be nothing without plants.
