We look after some pretty huge numbers. Nearly 6 million members. Over 780 miles of coastline. More than 250,000 hectares of land. Everything we do and everywhere we care for costs money. And every penny we spend is focused on delivering our charitable cause. Whether that’s through being a proud custodian of our built heritage, helping to address the nature crisis, or in making our places accessible and welcome to all. Here, you’ll be helping to protect and care for nature, beauty and history for generations to come.

Our work is challenging. Our decisions are influential. Our investments are important. As a charity completely independent of government, we rely on income from membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenues raised from our commercial operations. We generate millions and millions of pounds from our thriving catering and retail outlets, our holiday cottage business and our renewable energy.

And the fact that every penny of our profit goes back into our work makes having strong financial, business and regulatory expertise all the more important.

Here, you can deliver meaningful benefits in terms of value and effectiveness, as you ensure that we’re making the most of every pound we earn and spend. If you’re looking for intriguing challenges and exciting opportunities, join us.

Typical roles

We have lots of different opportunities in Finance across the places we care for and our regional and central offices. These include Contracts Clerk, Finance Assistant, Credit Controller, Procurement Specialist, Risk and Assurance Manager – and that’s just to name a few.

Finance Business Partner

Your expertise and vision will help us prepare for the future – looking at financial assets and taking a long-term view on what kind of investments are necessary, and where to invest.

Finance Support Accountant

Working proactively with a range of teams across Finance, you’ll provide vital support and guidance whilst ensuring the efficient management of our systems and processes.

Treasury Accountant

Your knowledge of cash flow forecasting and treasury management will be pivotal in the Trust managing its cash flows optimally, and ensuring the charity’s resources work hard for us – day in, day out.

Financial Accountant

You’ll be central to excellent financial control and accounting integrity for one of the UK’s largest charities, with a huge breadth of operations.

Financial Analyst

You’ll deliver management information that sets our future direction, and helps us to make smarter business decisions.

Procurement Specialist

As an expert in procurement processes, you’ll lead the development of solutions to support our staff. Through your work, you’ll help to maximize the impact of our charitable funds when purchasing goods and services.

Risk and Assurance Manager

This role has a dual focus – you'll plan and deliver internal audit projects and also facilitate quarterly risk reporting. This involves liaising with colleagues across the Trust to deliver high quality reporting for senior stakeholders and Trustees.

    Finance Business Partner

I really enjoy the variety of my role and the fact that you’re involved in all elements of the business. You’re a core member of the team who can really add value and have a positive influence in the properties decision making process.

    Mike

    Finance Analytics Manager

My work as Finance Analytics Manager involves leading a small team to process and present financial information from NT’s finance systems into its core Management Information (MI) system, which we call NT Analytics. My day-to-day work generally involves solving problems that people are having with MI or speeding up someone’s monthly process, both of which are incredibly satisfying experiences. The benefits of working for the Trust are manifold, whether it’s the warm feeling of working for a charity, the sensible approach to working hours that involves getting the job done rather than clocking on and off, the volunteering days where you can add benefit to society in other ways, or just the fantastic people that make up the organisation.
