Inside the farm shop at Polesden Lacey, Surrey

Retail

Retail’s a huge part of the National Trust business – and it’s only going to get bigger. In 2010, retail added some £4.1 million to our coffers. But we’re more than gift shops at our properties, more than mugs and tea towels. From insight to product pricing and merchandising through supply chain, from marketing and communication to delivery to customers, today, retail is as much as about the experience as it is the products. And for us, it’s about more than money too – incredibly important though it is, as every penny of profits goes straight back into supporting our vital work. We want to deliver an imaginative and unique retail proposition and offering, which includes own brand products that surprise and delight, and a service that meets expectations.

And as you’d expect, our shops are based in an incredible variety of places and spaces. So you could find yourself working in a shop within one of our castles or manor houses, in a lighthouse or even on an island, in some of the country's most beautiful countryside or coastline settings.
