We look after one of the greatest collections of historic gardens and cultivated plants in the world. And we spend more than £11 million every year, sharing and caring for this outstanding variety of landscapes and gardens.
From the literally breath-taking Peak District to the magnificent formal gardens of Cliveden, if it's the great outdoors that excites you, the NT Academy is the perfect way to turn green-fingered delight into a rewarding career.
Just left school? Looking for a change of direction? Our award-winning NT Academy will lead you to a career in gardening or countryside management. You'll learn on-the-job at one our outside spaces, and work with experts too. Experts who will happily and enthusiastically pass on their know-how and expertise. Meanwhile, you'll spend time at college, gaining recognised horticultural qualifications. So as you learn, you earn. And you build a rewarding career while helping to care for some of our most precious landscapes and gardens.
Special places demand specialist skills, especially if we want to protect and look after them for generations to come. As a trainee, you'll work at a specially selected garden, area of countryside or coastline. This’ll become your new workplace, your new ‘office'. From day one, you'll enjoy huge amounts of support from your colleagues, helping you to start building up an impressive range of skills. As well as your team, you'll work alongside volunteers and people in the local communities to gain a real insight into how our work impacts on these very special places.
You'll spend around ten weeks at college (in blocks, not all at once). Then it's back to the ‘office' to carry on with assignments and complete your portfolio. It's about putting all that learning into practice. Because it's a healthy mix of college theory and hands-on work, you'll find your knowledge and expertise growing in no time at all.
NT Academy roles will be available to apply Spring 2014. Please see the Current Vacancies section of this website.
