Finance

Huge numbers. Rigorous cost management. Important investments. Interesting challenges and strong commercial profit. Your work will be challenging and ever-interesting as you help us look after special places for generations to come.

Everything we do and everywhere we care for costs money. A minimum of £100 million each year. As a charity completely independent of government, we rely on income from membership fees, donations and legacies, and revenues raised from our commercial operations. We generate millions and millions of pounds from our thriving catering and retail outlets, our holiday cottage business and our renewable energy. And the fact that every penny of our profit goes back into our work makes having strong financial expertise here all the more important.

With sound financial footings and a new financial system on the way, we’re in a great position to deliver our planned £300 million of important conservation work over the next ten years. It also gives us the freedom to try new things and find different ways of raising funds, better managing costs and spending the money we have. Here, you can deliver meaningful benefits in terms of value and effectiveness, as you ensure that we’re making the most of every pound we earn, and spend. If you’re looking for intriguing challenges and exciting opportunities, join us.
